For online payment of TNEB electricity bill, consumer must have a valid login id and password of TNEB website. If not, he/she need to register first. After login consumer find an option for online payment, on clicking this option user will redirected to payment gateway.
Consumer can pay either credit card or debit card or net banking, depending on his own decision. Visa and Master both type of debit and credit cards are acceptable. While selecting the payment gateway option, consumer may find bank charges for the service. On selection on any payment gateway, consumer needs to enter his debit or credit card information. On successful transaction at payment gateway consumer will receive successful message form TNEB and consumer may print the payment receipt. Printing the receipt is not essential; user may find these receipts at any time in his account.
In case an error occurs and receipt not generated, don’t try further for payment. Just check your bank account balance. If amount not deducted, you may try again for TNEB online payment. Of amount deducted and if received by TNEB, receipt generated manually and sent by email and informed on SMS. If amount not received by TNEB, the deduced amount will refund by payment gateway in next few days. In some cases transaction got failed and on further attempt user get message- already paid. Such transactions are broken and same will be adjusted in next three working days.
The best part of TNEB online payment is, user may add as many as consumer numbers and pay bill for same. Registered users may receive/intimated through email about generation of fresh bill. Alternatively user may regularly check TNEB online payment website for new bills. Through online payment facility consumer also pay in advance, the amount will be adjusted in next billing cycle. In case of advance payment consumer check next bill for advance amount.
For login to TNEB portal you must need a valid user ID and password. If someone doesn’t have user id and password, he/she need to register TNEB portal first.
For fresh registration a valid email address and valid consumer ID require. While registering user need to choose or select a unique login name and then need to provide some information about electricity connection. On successful registration an email sent to user email id which contains a verification link. User need to click on this link, the click will verify the email address and then user redirected to login screen. For login, user needs to put login id and password on login screen.
Login id/name cannot be modified in any case; similarly you can’t modify consumer number. Still if a user requires changing in login id or consumer number, he/she need to delete the entire account and do a fresh registration.
TNEB Limited also known as Tamil Nadu Electricity Board is an electricity holding company of Tamil Naidu State Government. The formation of company was under section 131 of Electricity Act 2003 and it was the successor of Tamil Nadu Electricity Board.
TNEB was founded on First of July 1957 as Madras State Electricity Board as per Electricity Supply Act 1948 as a successor of erstwhile Electricity Department (Department of Power) of the Government of Madras. The main objective of Madras State Electricity Board was to generate electricity, distribute it, transmit it and supply it in state localities. Later the name of board was renamed and it was known as Tamil Nadu Electricity Board and after that TNEB Limited.
In October 2008 TNEB was divided into three companies by State Government. On First November 2010 TNEB Limited was converted into an electricity holding company with two subsidiaries TANGEDCO (Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited) and TANTRANSCO (Tamil Nadu Transmission Corporation Limited). TANGEDCO is responsible for electricity generation while TANTRANSCO is responsible for electricity transmission.
